What is open interest?
Open interest is the total value of all outstanding (un-closed) perpetual futures positions for a coin. Rising OI means new leverage entering the market; falling OI means positions closing.
How is the USD value computed?
Open interest is reported by the exchange in base-asset contracts; we multiply by the live mark price to get the USD figure shown here.
